In the United States and other countries excluding Europe and Australia, green Skittles were green apple flavored from 2013 until 2021. Blue-colored cherry cola flavored skittles were included in a limited edition variant in 2015. In Europe and Australia, purple Skittles are blackcurrant flavored. In September 2021, it was announced that lime would be permanently returning to the original Skittles flavor in October 2021, replacing green apple for the first time since 2013. A "Long Lost Lime" variation of Skittles was released in summer 20, bringing the lime flavor back to the original mix of Skittles for a limited time only. It was rumored that the reason behind this is the green apple flavor outperforming lime in taste tests. Green apple also replaced lime in the sour packets. In 2013, Skittles changed its original flavor line-up to include green apple, causing a consumer backlash. The original Skittles flavors in the United States (and other countries except for Europe and Australia ) are orange, lemon, lime, grape and strawberry. Earlier Skittles products tended to focus on fruit flavors more recent products have branched out to include flavors such as chocolate, bubble gum, popcorn, mint, and sours. That’s also when these are at their best. Despite their general softness, they still provide a highly satisfying chew when you eat more than one at a time. For example, if Life Saver Gummies are a five out of five on the chewiness scale, Skittles Gummies are a two. They are definitely softer than most similar candies. ![]() Much bigger than normal Skittles, but not that big. The Gummies are dime-sized, and roughly a quarter of an inch tall if you measure to the “S” logo. Skittles gave us an early shot at both varieties to see if they live up to the promise. It features melon berry, wild cherry, berry punch, strawberry, and raspberry. There’s also a gummy version of Skittles Wild Berry. It includes green apple, lemon, strawberry, orange, and grape. The first is based on the original lineup of flavors and come in that same signature red bag. The new Skittles Gummies come in two variations. They will arrive at all retailers beginning in May. Walmart is the exclusive spot to buy them nationwide right now. Skittles’ new bite-sized, soft chewy candies aren’t waiting for spring.
